On June 6th I had the pleasure of delivering the 5th grade commencement
address for Brick Mill Elementary School. The invitation was special for
several reasons; I was asked to speak because of my academic background and the
fact that I am the reigning Mrs. Delaware United States and because my son was
one of this year's graduates. I was asked to focus my speech on goal
attainment, hard work and not bring afraid to step outside if one's comfort
zone!
Oddly enough these were all things that helped me to win the title of Mrs.
Delaware United States. It was amazing to stand on that stage and look out into
the crowd at those stellar students and their proud parents. I hope that I was
able to inspire the iGeneration to truly embrace their journey to middle school
and to begin planning for their future now. Best regards to the class of 2012.
