Celebrating Our Independence

As  prepared to ride in Middletown 4th of July Parade. I pondered what to post this morning.  Here are my thoughts and some pictures from today's parade. Let freedom ring!

For most of us, the Fourth of July is a day to kick back and enjoy our time with family and friends. Independence Day is also about our freedom and those who braved hostile territories to ensure that freedom over 200 years ago.  The fourth of July is a constant reminder that as American people, we enjoy a set of rights that enable us think, dream and exist, free from government intrusion or from pressure by groups who can force a mindset or particular way of living upon us.  We are free people but in many nations this does not ring true.

Independence is what separates this country from many other countries.  We can stand side-by-side as equals, sharing the same rights and privileges.   The idea of equality has been tested time and time again; however as a nation, we remain steadfast in upholding the decree of our forefathers who declared this to be a nation in which we all have the unalienable right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

As we sit pool-side, ride in parades, enjoy barbeques and watch fireworks tonight, let us not forget that each of us has a responsibility to continue to make a difference through our own life’s journey.  We should rejoice in our heritage and work to forever ensure freedom, equality and rights for people in this nation and beyond.
