I am excited to have been crowned Mrs. Peach Blossom and am looking forward to the next few month as I prepare for the 2012 pageant. My goal is to continue to promote my platform of Blended Families and Step-parent Support, however, I want to also incorporate my love for education into my outreach and community service.
This week is my first in which I take to the community to give back, share, and learn from the residents of this great first state.
This afternoon, I had the pleasure of participating in an Interfaith 9/11 Remembrance Service on the Campus of Delaware State University, where powerful words were spoken by a Rabbi, a Baptist Youth Pastor, and a member of the Muslim Center. While this day was very somber and I found myself crying at both images and words, the greatest take-away from today was that humanity is one and through the darkest of hours we as a people manage to come together and become a beacon of light that conquers all darkness.
As this day draws to a close and final reflections are made on the hills and valleys that we've all climbed over this decade, may we commit ourselves to this: Don't let terror, fear, anger or hate prevail. Let love and respect for humanity be present in all that you do.
